About Us
The seeds for the SPCA of
Franklin County began with an
abandoned dog in 1998. He was
left behind when his owners
foreclosed on their home. Not
knowing what else to do, our
President and Founder Rebecca
Rodgers, found a local rescue
organization that would take him
in and make sure he got to a new
home.
Knowing that this wasn't the
only dog in this situation she
set out to make a difference. We
were officially formed and
incorporated in 2003. As an all
volunteer run organization the
SPCA of FC does not have a
shelter. Our operations are run
out of the homes of our
volunteers.
Our Mission: to
advocate and provide low cost
spay/neuter services and to
provide animal care and welfare
education.
Every day the SPCA of Franklin
County meets that mission by making a difference with the SNIP
Fund. This program is specifically
targeted to low income pet
owners and feral cat caretakers.
By preventing more litters we
are saving lives and helping to
keep pets out of the shelter
system.
Other up and
coming programs include a Pet
Pantry for low income pet owners
and Off the Chain that
provides fences for dogs on
chains. Both programs will help
prevent unwanted litters through
spay/neuter and keep family pets
in the home.
At the same time we also
want to help other rescues and
shelters across the state come
together and work on the
companion animal overpopulation
issue in North Carolina. The
North
Carolina Animal Welfare
Directory
is
a searchable databases that is visited
everyday and hopefully will help
North Carolina residents and
shelters work together help
animals in need.
Our
main goal will always be to reduce
companion animal over
population in Franklin County through spay & neuter education and services.
We hope you will join with us on
attaining our goal. Consider a
donation
and give the gift off life! |
